Speyer Cathedral Germany

Speyer Cathedral Germany – Officially the Imperial Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption and St Stephen. The cathedral is dedicated to St. Mary, patron saint of Speyer (“Patrona Spirensis”) and St. Stephen. The cathedral was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List of culturally important sites as “a major monument of Romanesque art in the German Empire” in 1981. ICOMOS also cites the building as important in demonstrating the evolution in attitudes towards restoration since the 17th century. Every year in September and October, the International Music Festival is held at Speyer Cathedral.
